“The central back panel, which includes all of the figural scenes, uses split-stitch to contour the face and body of the figures. This is why from a distant perspective, the style the figures are portrayed with is stylized and not naturalistic. The dark-blue thread that was used to do the split-stich also blends with the ground fabric. This technique does go on to become a recognizable characteristic of Opus Anglicanum. .”

As Sigiriya hides incredible frescos that are protected by the natural cave they are located in, monitoring the physical condition of the site as often as possible will help its’ conservation.”
